Chanel couture happened yesterday and as usual it was amazing. I love Lagerfeld. It's such a complete show from the clothes to the set to the models. It's all perfect.
The grand palais set took eight days to build including a real garden with real grass. The theme seemingly nature which is ironically contradicted by the wasteful nature of building such a massive set. But hey ho this is fashion so I am guessing no one stopped to think about that for too long. Although apparently all the wood is to be recycled and composted and the house is keeping....well...the house. It would have been nice however to see some sustainable fabrics in there just so this doesn't feel like yet another theme with no ethical substance.
Again though, fashion.
The fabrics had wood shavings, small tiles and patterns of birds and bees all over. All the models had cork sandals - dear god no - and wore a slightly different neutral shade of beige. Although there was enough textured embroidery in rhinestones or beads to mix things up and present stunning looks.
Oh and Cara Delevingne brought her dog so naturally everyone went mental. In fact this was the leading headline for the Daily Mail on the show. Never mind the clothes, a dog attended. Well done on the in-depth journalism and review guys. Also in the headline was the announcement that she had also gone braless. Incase we were dying to know about it.
